Singapore

Hellooo!
I haven't updated here in a week, so we're actually already in AUS. But I wanted to tell you what we did in Singapore first!
We started our Singaporean visit with a bit of a hiccup, our luggage got stuck in London and didn't arrive to the hotel until two nights later (Thanks Norwegian Air!). And since we we're naive, we didn't pack anything i our carry-on. So first thing first we had to go straight to a shop to buy something else than warm comfy pants. Bad luck for Dan, the only place open at 22:00 was a small market with women's clothes. I got a nice skirt and Dan had to settle with a pair of jeans shorts decorated with rhinestones and Mickey Mouse. But they were nice and stretchy!
We only had three nights here so we decided not to leave the capital. The city at least feels very modern, safe, clean, and helpful. All signs and announcements were in first hand English, followed by Malay, Mandarin and Tamil (def did not google that one..). The areas we stuck around varied from small, older two story houses with markets and "plastic chair and metal table"-restaurants, to modern skyscrapers, expensive shopping malls and trendy cafés. We lived in Fragrance Hotel - Riverside, just a short walk away from china town, which became our first excursion.

Oh and did I say that it was raining? The whole three days..
But we kept our spirits up, at least we didn't need jackets!

We saw some temples, walked through the markets and ate delicious street food for lunch.

The next mission we took on was something that I've wanted to do since my first time in South East Asia, Gardens by the Bay. It consists of the Supertree Grove, the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forrest.

The Supertree Grove

Basically big avatar-looking trees that light up at night. They had a sky walk between some of them, but it was closed due to the rain. They we're quite cool to see, like from another planet. It was better when we saw them at night though but we didn't get any pictures.

Flower Dome
A large indoor garden with different sections representing regions like Australia, The Mediterranean, California and more. It was a cool building and a nice break from the rainy weather, but maybe not so interesting for us.

The Cloud Forrest
One of the coolest things to see is a indoor 7 story Forrest mountain, surrounded with trees, flowers, waterfalls and clouds! It was quite humid but still cool and fresh. I could imagine that on a hot, sunny day this would be a perfect getaway. There was so many small things to see and explore that it took us about two hours to walk through.

We recommend anyone to pay this place a visit, it's well worth it!

Some of the other places we visited was;
  • Lau Pa Sat. Food market that expands after 19:00 every night out on the streets
  • Little India. Really a little taste of India, got here for a drink and walked around more markets.
  • Marina Bay Sands Mall and Casino. Very luxurious and cool, with robots giving free refreshments around the floor.
  • E!ght Korean BBQ in Clarke Quay Mall. Different, tasty and a little confusing at first. We got so much food served we could probably have used another two people to finish it!

Even though Singapore ended up being a bit more expensive than we planned for, it was worth breaking up a heavy trip between Sweden -> Australia! I'll write more about what we've been up to here on the Sunshine Coast at a later time, now we're off to the beach for a morning swim!

Bye from Singapore!
