That time we went to Gold Coast

The day before Australia Day, Dan and I went on a small road trip from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast. A pretty easy 2.5 hour drive with the occasional Hungry Jacks on the way. We actually went down there to celebrate Straya Day with a couple of friends, Vlad and Lindsey. Except Linds had no idea we would be there, or even that she was going to Gold Coast (coming from Sydney). We jumped out on them with confetti poppers as they checked out the apartment we were staying in for the weekend. I was afraid that maybe we went a little to aggressive haha.
The apartment was great for us. It had two bedrooms, a livingroom, a dining table area (= beerpong playing area), kitchen and a balcony. If anyone's interested, the hotel is called Seacrest Apartments. There was quite a view and about a 10-15 minute walk to Cavill Avenue.

We celebrated Straya Day down at the beach all dressed up with tattoos and face paint. We had music, drinks and sunshine. For a late lunch we went up on the beach road and ate at the same place we've had breakfast that morning, Sandbar. They had some of the best burgers we've ever had! Go to Sandbar on 52 Esplanade, and order the Kim Jongs Demise (omg yes) or The Lemmy. Do it!
The day after Straya Day, Rhys came all the way from Denmark to joins us on our last night there. We had a hectic day with a lot of beerpong, a mini-pubcrawl and a visit to Infinity, a walk through optical illusion maze sort of thing. You wear white gloves and white socks so that's "all you can see". It was pretty fun to go through, though I came out with a bruised nose and a bleeding lip 😕.

The last thing from Surfers Paradise I have to recommend is a charming street-dining Vietnamese place just off of Cavill Av. It's called Pleiku Kitchen and sits in the corner of Surfers Paradise Blvd & Alison St. Great for both couples and large groups. We ordered 6 meals for the five of us and shared them all. The flavors were so authentic and delicious!

At Pleiku!
After checking out from the hotel on the last day we had some hours to kill before Vlad and Linds we're getting their flight back to Sydney. Though it had rain the whole morning we risked it and went out to Movie World. Even though I absolutely hate going on roller coasters, there was still plenty to do and see. We had an awesome last day together, though we we're all a bit hanging haha.
